SOS Sekhukhune is one of our unique flagship family preservation programmes. Located in Limpopo, South Africa’s most northerly province does not have a children’s village but reaches children and families through a well-defined drop-in centre.
SOS Sekhukhune provides a range of support services to preserve family units and to protect and care for children. The programme works hand-in-hand with valuable community partners to reach over 600 children and their families, while another 170 children receive a meal every school day at the drop-in centre.
Sekhukhune straddles both the Limpopo and Mpumalanga provinces. The rural economy is built on mining and agriculture but the region lacks the facilities needed to develop its youth, hence the drop-in centre is a relevant response to local needs.
