SOS Children’s Villages is a social development organisation, focusing on the care, protection and development of children and youth who are orphaned or vulnerable.  Our mission is to build families for children in need, help them to shape their own futures and share in the development of their communities.

 

We are in the process of recruiting for the folloing vacancies in our Organisatin.

 

  1. Qualified CHILD AND YOUTH CARE WORKERS to be based at our Cape Town (Thornton), Gqeberha / PE, Gauteng & surrounding programmes.

 

Mission of the Position:

SOS Child & Youth Care Worker guides the children in his/her care towards self-sufficiency and independence and leads the decision-making process with her children. The CYCW is a childcare professional within a family environment.

 

THE CHILD AND YOUTH CARE WORKER WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR:

  • Provides basic and developmental care of children and youth.
  • The Child and Youth Care Worker is an important member of the SOS Family, and should be a caring, understanding, mature and responsible figure, which the children & youth can see as their “parental role model”.

 

THE CHILD AND YOUTH CARE WORKER WILL BE EXPECTED TO:

  • Reside full-time with the children in her care.
  • Assist in ensuring the well-being of the Children & Youth.
  • Support in guiding the children to take responsibility.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Matric and a Child and Youth Care qualification is essential.
  • 3 Years’ experience in working with children & youth in a similar environment.
  • Be willing to work irregular hours and live onsite.

 

  1. We are in the process of recruiting a Driver & handyman vacancy to be based at Cape Town.

 

THE DRIVER/MAINTENANCE WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR:

The Driver/Maintenance is responsible for carrying out the driving requirements of the programme, as directed from SOS Management only. In your position you will also be responsible for the general maintenance of the grounds and gardens and the buildings.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Grade 12
  • South African (Code C1) Driver’s license
  • Professional drivers permit (PDP)
  • Any additional advanced driving courses will be an added advantage
  • A minimum of 3 years working experience in a similar role
  • Driving children is an added advantage.

 

  1. We are in the process of recruiting for a SOCIAL WORKER to be based in our Cape Town (Thornton) programme.

 

THE SOCIAL WORKER WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR:

  • Ensuring that the procedures for the admission (and departure) of children into (and from) the SOS Children’s Village are properly followed
  • Providing advice, guidance and support to the Child & Youth Care Workers and working closely with them to plan appropriate programmes for the development of each child. 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Have a driver’s license and be registered with SACSSP as a social worker (proof to be provided on application).
  • 5 years’ relevant operational experience, with at least 3 years in a similar environment.
  • Have experience in alternative care of Children with relevant knowledge of Child protection policies and legislation within the social services professions sector.
  • Knowledge and experience of therapeutic work with Children, especially within a child and youth care context.
  • Be fully computer literate and have experience in compiling formal and professional reports.

 

  1. We are in the process of recruiting for TWO COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT WORKER to be based in Cape Town (1 position available) and Sekhukhune (1 position available).

 

THE COMMUNITY CARE WORKER WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR:

  • Support family-carers and zone leaders in their interaction with beneficiary families
  • Support initial assessments of beneficiary families
  • Support the implementation of the family development planning (FDP) process
  • Monitor the provision of programme services to beneficiary families
  • Programme Development support

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Qualification in Social Auxiliary Work or relevant field of study.
  • A Minimum 3 years of experience in Child and Youth Care Work and/or proven experience working with/in communities, with an understanding of NGO operations.
  • Registered with the South African Council for Social Service Professions, either professional or auxiliary level.

 

  1. We are in the process of recruiting for two Corporate Fundraisers to be based at our NATIONAL OFFICE in Woodmead (1 vacancy) and Cape Town (1 vacancy).

 

THE CORPORATE FUNDRAISER WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR:

  • Development, Management and Delivery of the Corporate Fundraising Strategy
  • Management of Projects related to Corporate Fundraising. This is a target driven position.
  • Management of own financial and provisions of input into departmental budget
  • Strategic Relationship Management

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Qualification in a field of international business development / marketing, sales / business administration / business management / public relations or communications.
  • Min 5 years verified experience and results in the field of marketing, fundraising or sales
  • Driver’s license and car

 

  1. We are in the process of recruiting for a Face to Face (F2F) Coordinator to be based at our National Office in Woodmead.

 

THE F2F COORDINATOR WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR:

  • Managing and leading the F2F Teams as well as the relationships with external service providers.
  • To establish the F2F Team as a strategic income stream for committed giving.
  • Full management of the F2F in-house Teams
  • Negotiate arrangements with malls, corporates, events and other locations for the in-house F2F Teams
  • Track team targets, coach and mentor the teams to perform at their peak

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRE

  • Completed Matric Certificate and tertiary education in a related field an advantage
  • 3 years of previous fundraising, marketing (telemarketing) or sales experience (preferred)
  • Previous experience of managing a NGO F2F team is essential for this role
  • Willingness to travel frequently and a valid driver’s license/vehicle is a must

 

 

 

 

  1. We are in the process of recruiting for a team of F2F Fundraisers to be based at our National Office in Woodmead but will be rotated to various shopping malls.

 

THE F2F FUNDRAISER WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR:

  • Signing up private citizens, potential donors, via direct debit by using the F2F (face-to-face) and other techniques and meet daily targets.
  • Directly communicate with private citizens to sign them up with emphasis on recruiting long-term donors.
  • Recruit new regular monthly donors for SOS-CV SA within the F2F team.
  • Assist team members to set up fundraising table and marketing material at canvassing locations.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Completed Matric Certificate
  • Tertiary education in a related field an advantage
  • 2-3 years of previous fundraising, marketing (telemarketing) or sales experience (preferred)
  • Previous experience in a similar role within target driven environments
  • Willingness to travel frequently as the F2F team will be rotated around various malls
  • Target driven and time management skills essential
