"I am fortunate to be part of the Denim Recycling Project. Within four weeks, I knew how to make myself a shirt, pencil case, toiletry bag and a scatter cushion. I now know about the different materials on the market, and how to read different patterns. Our instructor is open to ideas and to try new things, she makes what seems to be impossible, possible. She guides you so that you feel afterward “geez as easy as pie”. It's lovely to know that I can be this creative and, I am so eager to learn more!"

Donations of denim items of clothing that are received, are recycled/repurposed into items such as handbags, laptop bags, shopping bags, various kitchen wear, clocks, and jewellery, cushions, and many more. These fashionable and practical household items are made as part of an income-generating activity for the participants and their families.

The Denim Recycling Project products have been distributed both locally and internationally. This project allows participants to explore their creativity, increases their level of paying attention to finer details and they learn how to promote their products to their customers and yield positive results.

"The project opened a new world for me, one that I never knew existed. I am able to create something from scratch".
