SOS Nelspruit houses were some of the first SOS houses to be fully integrated into the local community, in order to help foster a sense of belonging in the children.

The first children moved into their SOS homes in 2003 and today the programme is fully fledged with up to 60 children living in 10 family-like homes. The SOS village prioritises the care and development of children and youth through family-based care and the Family Strengthening Programme.
