The SOS village comprises 13 homes, which provide over 100 children with a loving SOS family and a chance to grow and develop. The programme reaches another 250 children through the Family Strengthening Programme; while a Safe Park adjacent to the SOS village offers children from the community and those from the SOS village a safe place to play, interact, build friendships and access support services.

Unemployment is widespread in Mthatha and youth frequently turn to substance abuse to deal with their frustrations. SOS works in partnership with local organisations to support youth in developing entrepreneurial and work readiness skills.
