What does your family look like?

“I am strong.

I am unique.

I find lost smiles.

What am I?”

What does your family look like? Do you have a traditional nuclear family? A blended family? Were you raised by your grandparents or elder siblings?

When we think about it, no two families are the same. And at SOS Children’s Villages, we have our own unique family units, headed by our special SOS mothers.

Our SOS families are strong, loving and supportive. And they help children with broken hearts – like nine-year-old Anathi and her younger sister Khanyi* – to find their smiles!

That’s why we’re hoping you’ll click here to send your gift of love to our SOS families.

Your gift will support children like Anathi and Khanyi, who were placed under the wing of SOS mother Mpontseng Moloi in January.

The sisters never had a loving mother before they met Mpontseng. They didn’t know what it felt like to have a mother kiss you goodnight and hug you after school; or to cook healthy meals.

But now they know. And they can’t get enough of her love! And your gift, made by clicking here, will offer the priceless gift of an SOS mother and family to more children who have lost, or are at risk of losing, their parental care.

Anathi and Khanyi have come a long way since they arrived on Mpontseng’s doorstep, with eyes brimming with tears. They still cry out at night sometimes. But little by little, the girls are coming right. They’re finding their smiles.

And you can help more children find their smiles, by making your donation right now.

Mponsteng thanks God for donors like you. “It’s not easy to find people willing to support us but we so appreciate donations of money or clothes and toiletries. Donors ease our load and support our children. God bless you,” she says.

You can see how important your donations are to SOS moms, who have to budget and run their households just like any other family.

Each month, they receive R600 per child for food and R150 for cleaning materials. Many SOS moms have started food gardens to supplement their family’s diet and to teach their children how to provide for their families.

So please, will you click here to make your donation to support our wonderful SOS mothers and the unique families under their care?

(If you haven’t figured it out yet, the answer to our riddle is ‘a family’. Thank you for being a member of our SOS family – and helping our children find their smiles.)
