Opened by Nelson Mandela in 1996, the Cape Town program was the first of its kind in South Africa, able to cater for SOS mothers and children of different races to live together under one roof. Endeavoring to work developmentally and therapeutically with each child to ensure holistic growth, the program ensures that every child is involved in educational programs that meets their needs. Teenage pregnancy, drug abuse and gangsterism are prevalent in the Cape area and the program partners with various programmes worked proactively to address these issues.
